No, you shouldn’t let your rabbit drink almond milk. The only liquid your rabbit should be drinking is fresh water. Rabbits are lactose intolerant so giving them any sort of milk would upset their stomachs.
What if My Rabbit Drinks Almond Milk?
A small amount of almond milk shouldn’t be harmful to them, as it isn’t toxic. However, you should still keep an eye on them to make sure they’re not out of character. A noticeable sign of something being amiss would be if their toilet habits change.
If you notice any diarrhea, or if your rabbit hasn’t been toileting as normal, you should urgently see a vet.
What if My Baby Bunny Needs Milk?
If the mother rabbit rejects her babies – or, for some reason, they can’t get any milk – they’ll need a substitute.
For the first two weeks of their life, rabbits have their eyes closed. Until they open their eyes, they need to be exclusively fed by their mom. They’ll then feed until they’re about five or six months old.
You can’t substitute rabbit’s milk for any other animal’s milk. It won’t provide any nutritional value, and will likely upset the rabbit’s sensitive digestive system.
However, you can buy replacement milk which is safe for baby rabbits. If you’re concerned about the health of your baby rabbit, check in with a vet.
